Mary and I ran San Clemente T-Shirt Company until we moved to northern California when I retired in 1997. We sold the business to Shirt Graphix Inc, which is still operating at the same location.
I started screen printing in my apartment in 1969 and used the name Free Creation Enterprise until I sold the business to Go Graphics Inc. in 1975, which was renamed Shirt Graphix, Inc around 1978.
(Some folks might still remember my little print shop behind Dave's Mexican Restaurant.)
Meanwhile, in 1976, Mary and I started The T-Shirt Company with an emphasis on retail and, with partner Till Segal, opened two stores in Laguna Beach and San Diego. We soon tired of the rat race of managing three operations and sold our interest in the other two stores to our partner, who went on to open several more successful retail locations.
We returned to screen printing and graphics in 1980 and were prominent San Clemente retailers for many years, while operating a small custom screen printing operation in the back room of our Avenida Del Mar shop. I eventually decided to pursue my more-lucrative screenprinting business in a larger location and moved to San Clemente's old industrial area on Los Molinos.
We operated the business until my retirement in 1997, when once again we sold it to Shirt Graphix!
Owner Chris Miller continues to operate Shirt Graphix at the same location in San Clemente.
